From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
